What do you enjoy most about teaching Taekwondo?

Seeing kids carry what they learn in class into the rest of their lives – better focus at school, more confidence standing up for themselves and actively listening when someone's talking to them.

What’s your favourite part of the Blackbelt Journey?

The senior grades, when students start being trusted to help assist in classes. Watching someone go from “I’m just here to learn” to “I’m helping the next person learn” is the whole point of the journey for me.

Which Blackbelt value means the most to you?

Perseverance. It’s the one that really help outside of class too – in exams, in tough weeks at school, in sticking with something when progress feels slow.

A word of advice for your students?

Show up on the days you don’t feel like it. Those are the classes that actually move you forward.

A fun fact about you?

Outside of classes I’m a wildlife photographer – I spend a fair amount of my weekends stalking kingfishers and barn owls around Surrey with a camera instead of a blackbelt.

What do you enjoy most about teaching Taekwondo?

For me, it’s seeing students realise they’re capable of far more than they thought. Watching that confidence grow and seeing them develop both as martial artists and as people is incredibly rewarding.

What’s your favourite part of the Blackbelt Journey?

Seeing students keep turning up, even when things get tough, and then watching them achieve goals they once thought were out of reach. The confidence and pride that comes with that is brilliant to see.

Which Blackbelt value means the most to you?

Courtesy is one of the values I try to live by every day. Martial arts teach you that everyone deserves respect, regardless of who they are or where they come from. Being polite, showing humility and treating others well are qualities that matter far beyond TKD, they’re pillars of life.

A word of advice for your students?

There’s not much that hard work, a good sweat and a positive attitude can’t fix!

A fun fact about you?

I write theatre!
